So What Happened Last Year?
It's been three years since the opening of Dream Art Studio in 2008. I've needed time to get my bearings and adjust to my new life as an artist in Prospect New Town, and I have to say it's taken much more time and energy than I ever expected! — I'm not the only one feeling paralyzed— Within the collective plans have been slowed or halted altogether because of huge economic and environmental disasters. We've all been readjusting our goals and attitudes to flex with the times. For me the last two years have felt a little like hiking through waist high mud to finally find a place above it all giving a bigger perspective! Now, I realize that I am a glorious reflection of my growing (too fast) world. I realize too much expansion is harming the planet, so for myself I have adopted a "Less is More" ideal. In fact, I think it would be better if we all slowed down! Let's think of what's really essential. Let's think of quality, depth and enrichment! More of an inner focus will help us all, time spent nourishing ourselves, our families and communities back to health. We need our dreams to guide us more than ever!
Even though I was forced to move slowly, more happened than I first realized, giving hints of how to naturally move through 2011. Here are some highlights:
I started 2010 with a trip to Monument Valley. This power place filled me with awe and put my mind in a very harmonious place ready to paint! On my trip I bought some native flute music and it was a great inspiration to listen to while working. This was the view from our hotel room. Spectacular!!
Back home in the studio I never felt so close to mother and ready to create. In February, I AM SALMON was finished! A wrote an article about the painting and it was published in the Autumn 2010 issue of Dream Network and the artwork's on the cover! Check it out!
Began another ocean dream. This dream I had shared at a dream retreat with 40 other dreamers. What a soul massage were their insights! In particular I'm referring to the end of the dream where a woman says " The superintendant of schools has left his post. Would you like the job?— I am so happy I kiss her on the mouth." Someone called my attention to the words "super-intend" within the word superintendant. That gave me chills! Then the group pointed out that Whale naturally leads many schools of fish. After dreamwork one dreamer came up to me and said "I've been wondering what energy you were holding for the group and now I know — Visionary/Teacher." I was so elated from these conversations that I went home to my unfinished art studio and made whale calls out the windows. I'm sure that might have seemed crazy to any stranger passerby, but it has been my intention to draw other souls into my experience who want to explore the depths with me. Already I have many companions! During the time I painted "Whale Speaks" The Gulf oil spill occured and so made the meaning of the dream come to life in a very real and important way. It was a very powerful experience for me personally and I hope you all are inspired by the dreams message of hope. Check it out!
I attended a Jeremy Taylor workshop in February and also in April at Sunrise Ranch.
Was invited to Otto Rapp's Visionary Art website, with some of the most amazing visionary artists of our day, like Martina Hoffman and Robert Vernosa and Alex Grey! My work is published in this year's yearbook. http://visionaryartgallery.weebly.com/ The book is expensive ($65) but beautiful! To look at the book:

Joined Art of Day website and an article about my work was featured: http://artofday.com/wordpress/?p=583
The Prospect Artist Tour in June brought many new visitors to my gallery and many more dream conversations!

| My new grandson, Aydan James Flanagan, was born a month early on June 6th. This was a welcomed event which took me deeper into family and away from work for a few months. | Visited my son in Moab Utah for another inspiring time in nature. | Sometime during all this I expanded my Face Book involvement to a Professional Page, and began hosting (once a month) Full Moon group dream incubations. | Longmont Studio Tour in September brought 200 people through the studio again! Sold an original —"Luna Lights" has a new home in an art lover's music room! | New for the studio tour, and to my offerings, segments of all my dream art paintings called "Dream Art Fragments." It's fun to mix and match and create your own look! | I painted "Gifted Child" as a result of a dream incubation with a friend. It was a very healing and empowering experience. Check it out! |
Finally as a beautiful finish to the year I attended a book signing for Polly Leftofsky, author of "3mph - The Adventures of One Woman's Walk Around the World", and she's come on board "Amazing Women's Dreams" as my next focus! She actually has a dream written in the book which will be the subject of my next painting in this series. http://www.pollysglobalwalk.com/
